Searching for Languages
Table sorting
By default the table is sorted alphabetically by language name. Once the table has loaded you're able to change the sort column by clicking the up/down arrows:
- Down arrow: descending order
- Up arrow: ascending order
This action is only temporary and will disappear once the page has been reloaded.
Filtering the table
It's possible to filter Languages by name and whether they're enabled or not:
- Visit Settings -> Core -> Languages and click "Filter Results".
- Search terms:
- Name - Partially search for the language name, for example "eng" would match "English".
- Status - Whether the language is active, inactive or has an upgrade pending.
- Description - Partial search for the language description.
- The table will be filtered automatically as you enter search terms.
Activating Languages
To activate a language, please follow the following steps.
- Visit Settings -> General -> Languages.
- Search for the widget you wish to activate (see Searching for Languages).
- Click the 'Activate' link located on the left of the table.
- The page will reload confirming the language has been activated.
Deactivating Languages
You can only deactivate languages that are not currently set to a default locale (Settings -> General -> General Settings -> Locale tab).
To deactivate a language, follow the below steps:
- Visit Settings -> General -> Languages.
- Search for the language you wish to deactivate (see Searching for Languages).
- Click the 'Deactivate' link located on the left of the table.
- The page will reload confirming the language has been deactivated.
Uninstalling Languages
Uninstalling will permanently remove the language from the system, and it can only be recovered by re-uploading the files again. It would be recommended to only deactivate the language instead.
To uninstall a language, follow the below steps:
- Visit Settings -> General -> Languages.
- Search for the language you wish to uninstall (see Searching for Languages).
- Click the 'Uninstall' link located on the left of the table.
- Tick the options and click on the button, "Yes, Delete Language", that pops up confirming you would like to delete this language, and it will now be uninstalled from the system.
You can only uninstall languages that are not currently set to a default locale (Settings -> General -> General Settings -> Locale tab). English can not be uninstalled also as the system requires it as a fallback, but can be deactivated if it's not your default language.
