General Settings

The general tab holds any settings that apply to the whole help desk.

Setting Name Description
Use Gravatar Allows you to disable Gravatar throughout the system. Gravatar is a service which offers a globally recognised avatar to it's registered users. When Gravatar is enabled, the help desk will automatically send a request to secure.gravatar.com with an MD5 hash of each user email address to assist in displaying an avatar, the MD5 hash may also be publicly visible in the frontend HTML.

User Settings

The user tab holds any settings that specifically apply to users, or customers, of the help desk.

Setting Name Description
Name Format Define the name format used for displaying user names throughout the system. For example, the setting could display "John Smith" in various formats:
  • First Last - John Smith
  • Last First - Smith John
  • First L. - John S.
  • F. Last - J. Smith
  • First - John
  • Last - Smith
User Registration Enabled Allows you to enable or disable the registration form on the frontend. If disabled, users can only be added by operators in the operator panel. Any users who create tickets via email will have an account created in the database but will not be able to login.
User Registration Captcha Allows you to show or hide the captcha that is shown when a new user is registering via the frontend.
Password Length Enforce a minimum password length for users when registering a new account or updating their profile. The default password length for users is set to 6 characters.
Password Strength Enforce password strength requirements for users registering new accounts or updating their profile. By default a minimum strength is not enforced.
Ban IP after Failed Logins The number of failed logins a user can make on the frontend in 24 hours before their IP is banned. Setting to 0 will disable IP bans for users in the frontend completely.
Length of IP Ban The length of the automatic IP ban that comes from reaching the above number of failed logins in 24 hours.

Operator Settings

Setting Name Description
Name Format Define the name format used for displaying operator names throughout the system. For example, the setting could display "John Smith" in various formats:

  • First - John
  • Last - Smith
Enable LDAP Login Allow operators to optionally login using their LDAP account username and password. When the setting is enabled, a new "LDAP Accounts" link will appear below the "General Settings" in the sidebar.
Password Length Enforce a minimum password length for operators when they attempt to change their password. The default password length for operators is set to 8 characters.
Password Strength Enforce password strength requirements for users registering new accounts or updating their profile. By default a minimum strength is not enforced.
Ban IP after Failed Logins The number of failed logins an operator can make on the operator login/API in 24 hours before their IP is banned. Setting to 0 will disable IP bans for operators in the operator panel/API completely.
Length of IP Ban The length of the automatic IP ban that comes from reaching the above number of failed logins in 24 hours.

Organisation Settings

Setting Name Description
Organisations Enabled Allows organisation support to be disabled, useful if you only deal with consumers and do not need their organisation information.
Organisation Manager Notifications Whether organisation managers should be emailed about updates to tickets opened by other organisation users. This is a default setting and can be overridden for specific user accounts in their profile.
